Jill Weiss – Owner and Executive Chef of Dinner’s On The Table Personal Chef Service
I went to the oldest culinary school known to man. My Mother taught me how to cook. She helped start the catering company at her Synagogue and brought me along to help when I was a little girl. I would help make fruit displays and put pastries on trays while standing on a step stool because I was too small to reach. As the years passed, I was given more complicated jobs. I even helped when I came home from college on school breaks. I cooked and baked for anyone who would let me while I was away at school.
One of my favorite cooking memories is making my Bubby’s blintzes with my mother, and now I make them with my husband. My friends have told me I should find a kitchen where I could make and package them for sale. They would be regular customers.
I think I knew, helping my Mother in her kitchen, I would end up as a chef. I just needed time to figure it out for myself.

America was built on a foundation of hearty, home cooking. The home cook kept the family’s bellies happy through innovation and tasty food. While growing up I spent countless hours watching and doing – learning the art of cooking.
This included my mother and her mother preparing heart-warming delicious foods – from one-pot dishes to wonderful baked goods and everything in between. On my Father’s side, I was influenced by my Grandfather. A butcher by trade before he emmigrated from Czechoslovakia in the mid-1920’s, he was the head chef for a general in the Czech Army. His knowledge of various meats and cheeses sticks with me today.
On a professional level, I’ve held many different jobs in the culinary field: waiter, food prep, sous chef and now chef. Interestingly enough, it wasn’t until after I met and married my wife, Jill, that I truly developed a stronger interest in pursuing food as a career.
We’ve been married since 2001, exploring culinary traditions from around the world – and around the corner. We bring our love of food to your dinner table. Dinner’s On The Table serves the Greater Mid-Hudson Valley; Westchester County, Putnam County, Dutchess County, Ulster County, Columbia County and Eastern Connecticut.
